Bandipur Located on a 1000m ridge in Tanahu district some 140km west from Kathmandu and 60km east from Pokhara, Bandipur's hallmark is its beautiful scenery. Bandipur, a pleasant and charming hill town is situated on a hill-crest that offers a magnificent view of the central Himalayas and the Bandipur, Bandipur hiking, Bandipur village, Bandipur hillstation Marshyangdi valley. This ancient Newari mountain town located somewhat mid-way between Kathmandu and Pokhara and only eight Kilometers above the Prithivi Highway , It is the ideal spot for travelers to take a lunch- break, stretch the body or simply gaze at the enchanting mountain views. Untouched by modernization, and laced with an abundance of ancient houses, temples of great significance, and historical architecture, this medieval-era town boasts festivals all year around, besides plethora of cultural offerings. Neighboring Magar, Gurung, Bahun, Chhetri, Damai and Sarki villages all contribute to the cultural diversity of the region. At the eastern part of the town is the pagoda-roofed Bindabasine temple which houses goddess Durga, Bandipurs guardian deity. The rich wooden carvings and details brass-work that adorn the temple are replicas of those found in the many old pagoda structures of the Kathmandu valley. The other important temples and shrines in the vicinity include the Mahalaxmi temple with its exquisite woodwork and Khadga Devi temple which comes alive once a year during the Dashain festival.
